We are so excited to be able to share this super early Natural Ethiopia with you all. In 2020, we started using a lot of coffee from the Refisa processing site, and we have been very happy with the results. Refisa is located in a region of Ethiopia that is new to many specialty coffee drinkers. The flavor profile in West Arsi is a bit different than Yirgacheffe or Guji. We have found that the coffees from Refisa have soft florals, with big fruit character and intense sweetness. We have been loving them and can’t wait to share more of these beautiful coffees with you.

The Refisa processing site is run and operated by Neguesse Debela and his company SNAP. It is located in the heart of the Nensebo Woreda (district) in the region of West Arsi, Ethiopia. Negusse Debela has not been in the coffee industry long. He is known in Ethiopia as a computer guy, running a successful computer part importing company. While coffee does not seem like a natural leap, Nugussie was inspired on a trip to Minnesota; at a cafe, he had a pour-over that opened his eyes to what coffee could be.

At that moment, he realized the potential of coffee in his home country and upon his return, he got right to work. Negusse started off by touring coffee processing sites throughout southern Ethiopia to understand farming and processing better. From that initial tour, Nugusse was determined to set his company on a course to be one of the highest quality exporters in Ethiopia.

To do this, Nugusse started by hiring Abenezer Asafaw, an energetic young coffee professional as his quality and coffee manager. Negusse, with Abenezer by his side, bought land for SNAP to process coffee themselves. They have also started managing processing sites in Nensebo, Yirgacheffe, and Guji. We hope y'all like this coffee as much as we do!
