Every year LPET seems to elevate quality and consistency while isolating new flavor profiles within their Neighbors and Crops offerings. This year we were offered 2 amazing examples that further elevate LPET in our view as innovative coffee processors.
Julio's coffee was good on the pre-ship sample, but it wowed us on the arrival cupping table. Big fruit, complex acidity, and amazing sweetness with a cleanliness and clarity we did not expect from a coffee so fruity. Many of the flavors we expect to see from a Naturally Processed coffee but without any of that Natural Process heaviness that can be overbearing at times. This is a must try from our friends at LPET.
Julio Bermudez is a 62 year old farmer who had been growing coffee the past 16 years at his farm, El Refugio located in the municipality of La Mesa. This has truly been a family affair as his parents were farmers and now his two sons are also involved in the coffee production as well.
Big Fruit aromas, amazingly clean and vibrant acidity. This coffee bridges the gap between Washed and Natural process in a way that is surprising. Unmistakably fruity with vibrant acidy, and a beautiful clean finish. Truly a don't miss coffee.
