MEET THE PRODUCER | Haider Abamecha, who owns and operates two-going-on-three coffee farms (and several washing stations) in Jimma, Ethiopia, has been working in coffee for over 30 years. Although he spent five of those years working abroad in Saudi Arabia, he returned to Ethiopia in the late aughts and launched his first export venture in 2011.

Today, Haider oversees several operations throughout Jimma, building each of them within a framework of ethical farming and social welfare. His farms and collection sites hold many certifications not often found in his corner of the world, including Organic, RFA (Rainforest Alliance) and C.A.F.E. (Coffee and Farmer Equity). Additionally, Haider has implemented various worker welfare programs at these sites, and he regularly invests in rural infrastructure in and around Limu Kossa. He is a tireless advocate for coffee quality, social equity, and environmental stewardship – and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with him for this release.

TRUST THE PROCESS | After being handpicked at peak ripeness, coffee cherries are pulped and the parchment is fermented in water overnight. The next morning, it is thoroughly rinsed and spread out on raised beds to dry until optimal moisture content is achieved.

TAKE A SIP | There are few things we love more than a classic washed Ethiopian flavor profile, and this coffee is a lovely example of it. Soft florals greet you at first sip, and stone fruit, like cooked peaches, make up the bulk of the fruit character. The body is round and the texture is smooth, culminating in a cup that sips like black tea sweetened with dark sugar.
