Description
MEET THE PRODUCER | Founded by Hanan Million Getachew in 2020, ASHKIM is a woman-owned and operated exporting venture in Guji, Ethiopia. Hanan named the family business after her mother, Asha, and her sister, Kimiya – both of whom continue to contribute to its daily operations. Hanan is committed to sourcing and exporting high quality, high elevation coffees in and around Hambela, and she uses both her business and her platform on the International Women' s Coffee Alliance to help promote and create better financial and social outcomes for female producers and business owners throughout the region.
TRUST THE PROCESS | After being handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered to the drying station, whole coffee cherries are sorted for quality and spread out on African-style raised beds to dry in the sun.
TAKE A SIP | At a blind cupping table, some of our tasters mistook this cup for a black label offering! It’s the best natural Ethiopian coffee we’ve tasted all year, achieving that rare balance of boasting both fruit notes and florality in equal abundance. Featuring complex florals on the nose and tropical fruit notes, like mango, in the cup, this coffee has a sweetness akin to blackberry jam but sips just like peach iced tea. It blurs the lines between variety and processing in a way that is seldom accomplished, particularly for naturals. This coffee blew us away at the cupping table, and we are confident that you’ll have a similar experience when you first brew it at home!
